      Issues discussed concern the influence of Geoffrey Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales' on John Lydgate's poem, the 'Siege of Thebes.' The author analyzes the prologue to the 'Siege of Thebes' and addresses the issues of literary appropriation and self-authorization in medieval literature.
