    • Abstract:
The article discusses the nature of the relationship between Middle English poets Geoffrey Chaucer and John Gower in Southwark, England. It presents evidence of Gower being under legal training, and that their relationship was a professional legal one, as opposed to common notion of them being friends through their literary work. It also explores the emerging literature of Southwark and an understanding of Chaucer's psychology as he wrote "The Canterbury Tales."
