    • Abstract:
CANBERRA is an odd place — a planned confection, a strange simile of a city that exists on a different plane. Yet for all its otherworldliness, its straight streets and gridded suburbs, its bureaucrats and lobbyists, it's also stunningly beautiful. Known as "the Bush Capital", Canberra is much maligned, yet amazing architecture looms on every corner and culture seeps from its pores. And thanks to its museums and institutions, visiting is a short cut to the soul of Australia. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
