    • Abstract:
      This article explores the growth of political poetry. It identifies several poets who are political, including Homer, William Shakespeare, Geoffrey Chaucer and Tu Fu. It discusses the portrayal of left-wing, working-class and populist politics in poetry. In addition, the article analyzes the representation of political correctness in poetry, as well as the progressive political content of some poems. The role of the ruling class and modern poets in representing political issues in poems is discussed.
