The article discusses the ways needed by teachers in integrating LGBT issues into their teaching. It highlights the use of the life and works of writers Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson as examples in dealing the issues to the students. It views on the feelings of Whitman as a gay man as well as the sexuality issue of Dickinson. It also indicates several approaches in dealing the issue which include letting students to do Web research on the background of Dickinson and examining the concepts of the poem of Dickinson.
