How to Search for Information

To search for information on the library’s website, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go tohttps://biblioteca.sagrado.edu/
     
  2. Type the keywords you will use for your information search in the search bar.
     

NOTE: You will obtain more and better results by entering only the most important words or keywords and by conducting your searches in English.

  1. Use the filters to obtain more precise results.

You can filter results by:

  • Full text
     
  • Peer-reviewed journals
     
  • Publication date (1 year, 5 years, or 10 years)

Advanced Search

Advanced search allows you to find information resources more directly by letting you choose where the keywords will be searched. This type of search makes it easier to use Boolean operators and provides the option to search in specific fields such as titles, abstracts, authors, subjects, and others.

To use the advanced search, follow these steps:

  1. Go tohttps://biblioteca.sagrado.edu/
     
  2. Enter the keywords you will use for your search in the search bar.
     
  3. Select the Advanced Search link.
     
  4. You will see additional fields to search using multiple keywords.
     
  5. You will be able to choose where the search should be conducted within the information sources. Next to each search box, there will be a button labeled "All fields" where you will be able to select different options. For example, if you choose Title – TI, the search will be limited to the titles of documents that include the keywords you entered.

How to Search for E-books

  1. Go tohttps://biblioteca.sagrado.edu/
     
  2. Select the Databases link (located in the center of the screen).
     
  3. When the menu appears, choose E-books.
     
  4. In the left-hand column, you will find four e-book collections: ProQuest Ebook Central, EBSCO Ebooks, ELibro, and Bloomsbury Fashion Central.
     In the right-hand column, you will find various websites where you can access open-access e-books.

Note: The PDF accompanying this guide provides more detailed instructions on how to search within these databases.

  2. Select the box labeled “Physical Resources”
     
  3. In the search bar, type the keywords for your search. You can search by book titles, author names, or specific subjects.
     
  4. When you select a title, you will be able to view its detailed record. This includes information such as the library collection where the item is located and its call number, which will help you find it on the shelves.

How to Search for Multimedia Resources

  2. Select the Databases link (located in the center of the screen).
     
  3. When the menu appears, choose Streaming – Films and Documentaries.
     

You will be able to access Kanopy and Academic Video Online, where you can find documentaries and films on a wide range of topics.

How to Search for News

  1. Go to https://biblioteca.sagrado.edu/
     
  2. Select the Databases link (located in the center of the screen).
     
  3. When the menu appears, choose Database List.
     
  4. Click on the maroon-colored section labeled News. There, you will find articles from leading newspapers from various parts of the world.
     

To search for newspaper articles from Puerto Rico, use Latin American Newsstream. After entering your search terms, use the Publication Title filter on the left-hand side and select the newspaper titles you wish to view (for example, El Nuevo Día).
